VDRC: Established by a group of youth to address the issue of engagement. It has over its 31 years of existence mainstreamed different dimensions of development under one umbrella encompassing education, media, microfinance and various other thematic areas.
VYCCU: Savings and Credit Cooperative was started in 1991 and its mission is to give priority to low income households for livelihood, self employment, microenterprise, and income generation.
Vijaya Samudayik School: Its main focus tackles the issues of: lack of access to education for all and lack of involvement of community in the sector of education.
Vijaya FM: Its focus is to address the problems associated with: Right to information/ Freedom of expression, Good governance and Human Development encompassing: Social, Economic Cultural and Political issues.
BUSINESS MODEL FOR SUSTAINABILITY
VDRC is registered as a non-governmental, non-profit organisation while its three promotional programs are based on the cooperative model. It is the community which invests and receives. The staff receives income through micro-finance and farming programs and through the development of vocational and entrepreneurial skills.
THE SOCIAL/ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT OF THE VENTURE
Livelihoods are improved through education and access to economic opportunities, establishment of social capital through education, networks, partnerships and media promotion of political, economic and social participation and accountability. Environmental awareness is raised on issues like the importance of reforestation through media and youth clubs.

THE VENTURE’S POTENTIAL FOR GROWTH, SCALABILITY AND REPLICABILITY
Growth: What started as a youth club with 29 members now exists as an organisation consisting of 13 executive members, 93 life members and 62 staff. VDRC’s has increased partnership with organisations, school programs, local governance, community, and welfare development programs.
Scalability: VDRC has trained approx. 250 cooperatives all over Nepal, each which functions independently.
Replicability: Easily replicable. VDRC has also been lobbying to introduce cooperatives as a subject in schools because of its impact and easy to replicate structure across geographies.
